The first ten people who comment on this journal will have me go through their gallery and pick my three favorite deviations, which in turn will be featured in this journal.

The catch is that to qualify, you MUST post a similar journal, or already be participating in this project.

My Sisters' Sorrows
A warrior filled with courage rare,
Did seek all evil to ensnare,
Its pow'r to vanquish in the deeps,
Yet now in silence still she sleeps,
Afflicted yet with visions told
To none that life does still behold.
An ancient evil she did seek,
Behind it, softly, once did sneak,
In earnest lifted high her sword,
Yet calmly cut it through her chord
Of life, and to the ground did fall
Her blade, when silence cold did call.
A beauty bore, through her façade
Perfection pure; 'tis said she trod
A life of peace and joy and hope,
Yet now does in her blindness grope
For that which was, but cannot be
Reborn no more than she can see.
Her eyes once filled with visions vain
Of wealth and of material gain;
In gazing 'pon her beauty bright
Drew nearer, nearer to the light
'Till pompous pride her eyes did burn
And darkness lasting she did earn.
A player who, upon the stage
Did speak the wisdom of a mage,
All peaceful, bathed in glorious light,
Yet now she lies in dark of night,

sad and horrible event in Montreal : www.cbc.ca/story/canada/nation…

1500 kms, 3 days.  Quebec is BIG.  Here is a map that can help to follow : www.canadainfolink.ca/que.jpg

Almost didn't left on monday, the weather forecast was bad for the coming week, but then decided to go anyway.

Left Montreal on monday morning, around 11.  Left tent and camping gear behind, due to weather forecast.  Drove "the cube" www.mfgautoleasing.com/images/… along the south shore of St-Lawrence river.

St-Jean-Port-Joli (347 km from Mtl) - wood sculpture symposium in a park overlooking the river.  The river is wide there.  Really nice site with beautiful sculptures left from artists from all over the world.  Some sculptors were working on site, for this year edition of the symposium.

Trois-Pistoles (479 km from Mtl) - Stopped briefly to get some info and maps, visited a small weaver's workshop.  Bought a handwoven linen dishcloth that will be embroided and made into a Viking apron.

Rimouski (542 km from Mtl) - The river here smells like sea, and the water is salty.  Ate incredible seafood (mussels, lobster, shrimp, scallops, salmon and scampies) at the Marina restaurant, while enjoying a nice sunset.  So far, no rain.  Slept over in Rimouski.  Made reservations for the ferry the next day.

Rimouski Marina by Laerad

On tuesday, it rains.  The ferry is not until 5 pm, so we visit the Musee de la Mer in Pointe-au-Pere near Rimouski.  It has an exhibition about the empress of Ireland, a cruiseship that sank nearby in 1914, killing 1012 people.  Climbed up the lighthouse, which is not used anymore.  Unfortunately, too cloudy to enjoy the view.  it still rains.  Drove a little further to Ste-Flavie, to see a mead brewery.  Bought mead, houney and honey soap.  They also have an exhibition on the second floor called Musee de la Neufve-France (Museum of New-France) with artifacts from the first nations, and the settlers, from 16th to 18th centuries.

Matane (636 km from Mtl) Ferry across the River to Baie-Comeau.  Crossing takes 2 h 20 min.

Baie-Comeau (61 km across the river from Matane) - Surprised my parents by showing up unexpected at the Baie-Comeau painting symposium, in which my mom is taking part.  Slept over in Baie-Comeau.  Left this morning.  The north shore is very different.  Very wild there, almost only evergreens.  Steep and montainy, with big granite walls.  we saw a moose by the road.

Tadoussac (200 km from Baie-Comeau) - Crossed the Saguenay river by ferry (about 10 minutes this time).  Beautiful fjord there.  It is very cloudy, but no rain, just a small drizzle at times.

Fjord of the Saguenay by Laerad

Baie-Ste-Catherine (204 km from Baie-Comeau) - just across from Tadoussac.  Bought binoculars and went to Pointe-Noire to watch the whales.  Saw about a dozen beluga whales and a seal frolicking in the bay.  To see bigger whales, one needs to take a whale boat tour, in the middle of the St-Lawrence.
A beluga : www.spawar.navy.mil/sandiego/t…
They are about 3,5 to 4 m long.

Baie-St-Paul (324 km from Baie-Comeau) - We took the scenic route across Charlevoix county but there was massive fog in the heights.  The picture was taken from inside the car around noon !  Charlevoix is a really beautiful area with breathtaking landscapes (when it is not foggy) and a lot of painters live here, or come here during the summer.  Beautiful cosy villages and pretty countryside everywhere.

Fog in Charlevoix by Laerad

Montreal (674 km from Baie-Comeau) When back home, we had a little over 1500 km on the counter.  We will likely go again, explore further when we have more time and hopefully better weather.  And thinking this trip covered about 1/3 of the province in width....  So BIG.
